3 Apps to Make Photos POP on Social Media!

0

We’re big fans of using social media to promote your business. From posting your menu on Facebook to showing off your dishes on Twitter and Instagram, you can give your restaurant a virtual presence with almost any camera—including the one in your smartphone.

Great photos start with natural light, a simple layout and clean styling. Yet, even so, they still might not pop off the screen. So we’ve reviewed 4 easy-to-use apps you can add to your smartphone to turn an okay image into a tasty one.

A quick note: Each of the apps we reviewed include basic editing tools, such as adjusting contrast/brightness and cropping. So we’ll focus on the extra tricks that will take your photos to the next level.

Keep it simple. Use natural light (turn off the flash!) and include just a few—if any—accent items.

Afterlight

Control your image’s focus and attitude with Afterlight. It includes a 56 filters selection of filters to change the mood of the image. There are 56 filters in all, but you’ll quickly find your favorites. It also lets you add a variety of overlays to your image. And, once you’re done with your photo, it is easy to share via email, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Snapseed

This Google product includes many powerful correction tools to make small adjustments and add special effects. The special effects are easy to use—and there are many to choose from, including Drama and Vintage (two of the most popular looks). You can also adjust focus and tilt. Plus you can select specific areas to fix, such as a too-bright area of light or a stray garnish. Once you’re done, it lets you add a frame to give the image a polished appearance.

VSCO

While VSCO might deliver the best results in just a few taps, its interface takes a little getting used to. It includes 10 free filters (and you can buy more) that should easily achieve your food-focused goals. We also really like VSCO’s Grid, a library of photos that can inspire you. You can also create your own Grid with your own photos for easy access to images you share the most.
